Art Gallery & Bookstore

Raw Meat is an independent publishing house, art gallery, and bookstore based in Chinatown, New York. Founded in 2015 by artist Kyle Quinn, Raw Meat works with established and emerging contemporary artists across a range of disciplines, including photography, painting, sculpture, collage, and installation. The press primarily publishes artist books and also produces photography editions, exhibition catalogues, and fine art editions and ephemera in collaboration with independent artists, galleries, and cultural organizations.

Raw Meat is committed to creating platforms for and amplifying the work of LGBTQ+ and femme artists through publishing, exhibitions, and the broader dissemination of contemporary art. Its program engages with themes including queer history, identity politics, vulnerability, sexuality, sorrow, and subversion, approaching these subjects through both critical and poetic perspectives. Through its publications and exhibitions, Raw Meat seeks to foster dialogue, expand visibility for underrepresented practices, and encourage audiences to reconsider established notions of identity, community, intimacy, and contemporary queer experience.

A central part of Raw Meat’s mission is to support ambitious and challenging projects that may otherwise remain unpublished or underrepresented within traditional cultural institutions. The press is particularly interested in work whose intimacy, vulnerability, or formal and conceptual experimentation demands alternative forms of presentation and distribution. Since its founding, Raw Meat has collaborated with universities, museums, art book fairs, galleries, and curators internationally, and continues to develop partnerships that support artists and contribute to the broader field of contemporary art and independent publishing.
